PvE Mesmers
It's taken me over a day to decide over what elite I want for my PvE Mesmer.
SO? What's the catch with Mesmers in PvE today?
I forgot to mention I have all boosters and expansions.

Depending on what I want to accomplish, I usually use one of:
[skill]energy surge[/skill][skill]ineptitude[/skill][skill]echo[/skill]
The "catch" to Mesmers in PvE is that you really can't use energy denial on NPCs, the AI can interrupt skills far better than a human person can, and you neither do more damage nor has much direct damage as an elementalist can or apply as many good conditions/hexes as a necro can...

I, personally, like [skill]Stolen Speed[/skill], but that seems to be just me.

Personally, I'm loving Signet of Illusions + PvE skills.

[skill]Power Block[/skill] also has its uses as a great interrupt against annoying Monk bosses, and I like using [skill]Mantra of Recall[/skill] or [skill]Mantra of Recovery[/skill] when I run non-mesmer caster builds.

Maybe in terms of reflexes, but by no means do they know what to interrupt and when, which is what really counts.

Exactly. Case in point: the AI will use Cry of Frustration on any ol' attack, regardless of whether or not it is a skill.

But that doesn't matter in PvE. Everything will die in a matter of seconds.
That's why spammable interrupts are where it's really at in PvE (IF interrupts happen to be the name of the game! Which they rarely are ...)
That's why Rangers > Mesmers.
Well - and daze.

Everything you put on your skill-bar is a skill.

There is no need to turn this into a debate about Mesmers vs Rangers. Each has its own strengths. And interrupting always has its uses. I don't know where you play, but much of the game has difficult caster enemies, like Elementalists and Monks. Interrupting always shines against them.
And what I meant is that the AI uses Cry of Frustration and other interrupts on non-skill attacks, which is a waste.

Eversince somebody at A.Net came up with the amazing idea of certain foes activating skills in half the normal time AND killing off passive interrupts while buffing active interrupts AND making the foes as dumb as they are - in terms of standing still, lacking evasive skills or just simple condition removal - IF interrupting happens in PvE it's best done through Daze.
BHA.
And even that is pretty much only viable vs. those 5ish really bad bosses that will wipe the party though their insane AoE JUST because the hench are to stupid to spread out AND don't understand the meaning of protection AND only have those 480 hp.
The only thing that the mesmer has to offer that COMPLETELY outshines Daze is Blackout. And we know how many people run that ...
I am guessing you mean that they waste CoF on spells?
I don't see that as a problem. Since a lot of foes have insanely stupid skillbars which are designed with only one thing in mind - hit as hard as possible for the first 4 or 5 times with a complete disregard of what happens after that since they are supposed to be dead after they cast those 5 skills. So anything that will be interrupted in that time - is nice.
